On Tuesday at the CommTech East in Ontario we announced that Alianza has officially headed north. Our Cloud Voice Platform is now available to help service providers throughout Canada. We’ve done it for five years in the United States and we are taking that experience and solution to help cable companies, ISPs, telcos, and resellers.
How do we help? Broadly this solution helps service providers:
1) Dramatically reduce total cost of ownership – our solution changes the business model for existing services to one that is success-based OPEX and eliminates all CAPEX; this is especially helpful for providers that are facing a decision on what solution will power their next-generation VoIP.
2) Rapidly launch new VoIP services – this applies to both the introduction of greenfield voice offerings or to enable market or geographic expansion (e.g., launch hosted business VoIP or expand to new provinces or cities).
Alianza hosts and manages the cloud-based wholesale VoIP solution, providing all the technology and management components required to deliver and monetize voice services. Or as one attendee to CommTech correctly restated: voice network as a service. The solution is available now and is used by a leading ISP in Canada (we look forward to revealing our inaugural Canadian customer in the near future).
What did we do to make it official?
- Localize – we added support for Canadian star codes, the French language for end-users and emergency services
- Partner – we established a joint sales and technology solution partnership with TELUS (the Partner solutions arm) for nationwide wholesale carrier services (e.g., telephone numbers, PSTN connections, IP transport) based on its Next Generation Network. TELUS provides a solid, reliable, and expansive transport network to enable the turnkey solution; we jointly go to market to deliver TELUS’ Wholesale Hosted VoIP solution.
If they choose, service providers can also leverage their own carrier services and use our Cloud Voice Platform to replace the need to build and manage a VoIP network. This approach makes sense for established telcos or cable companies that have the footprint and rate center coverage.
The fixed voice market in Canada is substantial (totaling over $8 billion last year) and we aim to make that a more profitable endeavor or allow new providers to participate and grab a slice of it.
