Earlier this month, Alianza completed our acquisition of Metaswitch from Microsoft. From the very beginning, we approached this journey with more than just business metrics in mind. For us, it’s never just about financials — it’s about people, purpose, and the chance to build something better together.
In Metaswitch, we saw not only impressive talent and capabilities, but also a team that shares our values and vision for the future. This acquisition presented an opportunity to be bigger and better – combining strengths, learning from one another, and creating a shared future that’s greater than what either of us could have achieved alone.
A successful integration doesn’t start with org charts or systems, it starts with people. We spent time really listening and learning what makes each team tick. For us at Alianza, that meant reflecting on our own “secret sauce” – the values and strengths that truly define who we are – and looking for the places where Metaswitch could build on that in meaningful ways. What stood out right away was how much we had in common. The passion for customer success, the pride in doing things right, and the strong sense of accountability — it all felt familiar in the best way. That kind of alignment has made this transition not just easier but genuinely energizing. It feels like we’re not just merging companies, we’re building something stronger.
Of course, the integration didn’t come without its challenges. Culture isn’t just about policies or processes, it’s about how people communicate, how they show up for each other, and how they respond when things get hard. And things did get hard. The reality is, merging teams, histories, and ways of working pressure-tested us. It pushed us to confront ambiguity head-on and get crystal clear not just in our communication, but in our shared purpose. It forced us to ask the hard questions: What do we really stand for? Where are we going? And how do we get there together?
In many ways, the challenges became the catalyst. They deepened our alignment and made us sharper, more intentional, and more unified. That clarity has become the foundation we’re now building on — and we’re stronger for it.
